-- Experience as a land manager, forester, park ranger, environmental educator, farmer or rancher, plant nursery worker, worker in the building trades, or other combination of experiences that provide evidence of interest and ability to perform similar tasks

-- Experience with special events or teaching classes

-- Willingness to gain the following certifications: Burn Boss, Pesticide Applicator, Interpretive Guide

-- Ability to creatively solve problems, to create and implement a vision for varied landscapes, and to provide inspired leadership to volunteers.

Note: ACT will provide the time and funds for recommended training certifications and other classes

Funding, compensation, and benefits:

ACT has endowments that provide a source of income for the management of some properties. Other funding for major capital projects will be sought from grants and fundraising.

The annual salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications andexperience. Benefits include flexible hours, paid vacations and holidays, workers compensation insurance, and reimbursement for health insurance after six months. The other benefit is being able to work for a respected, value-driven organization with a strong track record, dedicated board, staff, and supporters, and to live in a home in the middle of a $2 million estate. A package of information about the caretaker's residence, including photos, is available upon request.

Application:

Applications should consist of the following:

-- Cover letter indicating your interest in the position, your minimum salary expectations, and the earliest possible starting date when you would be available. The cover letter should also contain the following sentence: "I understand that if I accept this position, I will be expected to live in ACT's caretaker's residence as part of the job requirements and compensation package.
